About

Hi, I'm David.

For over twenty years I've been exploring Video Games, Japanese pop culture, idol groups, travel, and the strange ways people connect with the things they love.

What started as a hobby eventually led me to interviewing artists, attending events across North America and Japan, creating videos, running websites, and spending countless hours talking with friends, fans, locals and industry professionals. I'm always keen to exploring new things and experiences, and I feel I tend to notice things most people miss. So this site is a place for me to collect those observations.

Some articles are about Japanese culture. Some are about fandom and the idol industry. Some are travel stories. Others are personal essays about relationships, community, business, or the lessons we learn from our hobbies.

I feel like I'm knowledgeable about somethings and curious about others.

I try to write about what I see and my opinion about it. In talking to other people I've always found different ways to look at things and I'm hoping this can be an extension of that. Sometimes you'll agree. Sometimes you won't. That's okay.

Whether you found this site through an idol interview, a Japan travel article, a video game essay, or a random search result at 2 AM, welcome.

I hope you find something worth thinking about.

— David
